Institute has established in 2010 with approval for 227 sanctioned posts by the
Department of Technical Education and Finance Department. Government
Engineering College Ambikapur operates on a 42-acre campus allotted by
Collector Surguja located in Nehru Nagar Digma, Ambikapur. The designated
college code is 133.
Like other Government Engineering
Colleges, it receives grants under the Tribal Welfare Scheme and is also linked
with the Government of India’s TEQIP program. The college offers AICTE-approved
B. Tech and M. Tech programs in five disciplines: Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering and
Mining Engineering. Since January 31, 2020, it functions as a constituent
college of Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai (A State
Government University).
The institute features a well-established campus with robust infrastructure and modern laboratory facilities. Most of the faculty members are highly qualified, having graduated from premier institutions like IITs and NITs. The institute follows the University's Statutes; Ordinance and Regulations, and faculty appointments are made per the Chhattisgarh University Act, 1973, adhering to AICTE norms. Currently, as per the State Government University norms the college has 25 regular Assistant Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 1 Principal, and 30 non-teaching staff, serving around 1000 students, primarily from the tribal region of Sarguja and all over Chhattisgarh.
